How to Hang an Art Display

Art can dramatically change the look of a room by adding personality and warmth. Hanging an effective art display takes planning, but the result can provide an interesting focal point. To work, you must attain balance between the display and the other elements in the room and on the wall.

Instructions

    1

Pick an arrangement for your frames based on the wall. Cluster the frames in an oval or oblong shape to cover a large expanse. Use the largest piece in the center for a strong impact.

    2

Angle your art upwards if you're hanging the display over a staircase. Place the largest frame at the bottom of the stairs to anchor the display.

    3

Set up the pattern by laying your frames on the floor first. This allows you to rearrange the frames until you're sure you like the final display.

    4

Create a template from the arrangement with a large piece of paper to hang on the wall to get a clearer picture of your display before putting holes into your wall. The template also can locate the exact spots for your nails.

    5

Measure the distance of the entire display. The grouping should be centered in your space and equally distant from the ceiling and the anchoring piece of furniture.
