How to Make a Plastic Foam Sculpture Doll

If you take up sculpting, you'll soon choose the medium in which you're most comfortable working. While you could sculpt in marble or another stone, using foam and plastic puts less stress on hands and joints and allows you to create distinctive sculptures like dolls.

Instructions

    1

Grab a ball of plastic foam. Use your thumbs to create two indentations for eyes.

    2

Use a scraping knife to create cheeks and a nose. Grab smaller pieces of plastic foam and carve curved features for these facial features. It's not an exact science. Use straight-line scrapes on the plastic foam.

    3

Glue the nose and cheeks onto the face. Pin the features onto the head until the glue dries.

    4

Remove the pins from your doll's head. Paint eyes onto your doll and give it lip and cheek color.

    5

Cut out clothes for your foam and plastic doll out of felt or other material. Pin a hat to the doll's head and dress it.
