How to Use Skull Trap in Baldur's Gate 2

Skull Trap is one of the most powerful third-level spells in any arsenal in Baldur's Gate 2. You can use this low-level spell to destroy some of your most powerful enemies. Learn how to use Skull Trap in Baldur's Gate 2.

Instructions

    1

Find a suitable spot to cast the Skull Trap. Ideally, you want a large, empty area to which you can attract plenty of monsters at the same time. Make your self invisible and scout out locations. Use Farsight instead if the monsters can see invisible.

    2

Be aware of the blast radius. A Skull Trap will explode when anyone gets within 20 feet of it, whether they are an enemy or ally. Make sure an area also is clear of weak monsters that could set off the Skull Trap prematurely.

    3

Set the Skull Traps. Use all of your third-level spell slots to memorize Skull Trap and cast them all in the same location. Memorize your Skull Traps and cast them again. Repeat this process until you have cast more than enough Skull Traps to kill the most powerful monster in the encounter area.

    4

Attract as many monsters as possible. Use Haste or Boots of Speed to get an army of monsters to chase you. Go around the Skull Traps and lead the monster directly into them. If you move fast enough, you may go straight through the Skull Traps without setting them off.

    5

Use Protection from Magic Energy. This sixth-level spell will completely protect you from Skull Traps, relieving you from the worry of being killed by your own Skull Traps.
