How to Make a Mask with Foil and Duct Tape

Costume pieces don't have to be expensive to be fun. You can make your own masks out of tinfoil and duct tape. Use paint, glitter, feathers, beads and other craft pieces to decorate your mask and make it truly one of a kind.

Instructions

    1

Cut a piece of aluminum foil about 18 to 20 inches long. Fold the foil into thirds so it is the width of your face.

    2

Press the foil to your face. Use your fingers to press your facial details into the foil. You may need to press hard around your bone structure and nose to get the foil to mold to your features.

    3

Remove the foil from your face and trim the foil to the size you want the mask to be. To help you see and breathe, cut the eye and nose holes slightly larger than the molded eyes and nose holes.

    4

Add holes on the side of the mask for string or elastic to hold the mask in place. If you want to make a handheld mask on a small dowel rod, attach the stick after you have covered and decorated the mask.

    5

Place the mask back on your face and cover it with small pieces of duct tape. Keep the mask pressed to your features as you press on the tape.

    6

Decorate the mask with paint, feathers, beads and other craft supplies. Attach strings to the holes in the mask or attach the mask to a small dowel rod for a handheld mask.
