How to Make Decorations for New Year's Eve

Keep New Year's Eve decorating enjoyable by not trying to do too much. Focus your efforts on the front door, any archways in the room, and the tables. Select one of the themes below for your New Year's Eve party. You are only limited by your imagination when you make your own party decorations.

Instructions

    1

Make your space evergreen. You can tie your own swags of evergreen branches with raffia and ribbon. Add cinnamon sticks and cloves for a pleasant fragrance. Hang one on the door and use them as centerpieces. White candles add a nice touch to the centerpieces.

    2

Plan a fiesta-themed New Year's Eve. Make a piata and fill it with candy. Hang it up so guests can admire it before it's time to play break the piata. Make large tissue paper flowers to decorate the door and archways. Use smaller tissue paper flowers in vases as centerpieces.

    3

Go with the classic balloons and streamers. Use a paper punch to make confetti that you can add to balloons before you inflate them. You could also add fortunes to the balloons. Hang the balloons along with streamers and curling ribbon, then pop the balloons at midnight.

    4

Ring in the New Year. Cut a variety of colored bells out of colored paper. Cover paper cups with aluminum foil or paint them whatever color you like. String them together with yarn and hang them up. Put jingle bells on the door, and attach ribbon to jingle bells for table decorations.
